Monster Mash – McCall’s M6844 and Brindille & Twig Fold Over Pants

Monster Mash – McCall’s M6844 and Brindille & Twig Fold Over Pants

Happy October! This post I’m part of the Monster Mash blog tour. This time around I decided to make these cute Mommy & Me outfits for a little Halloween spirit!

Let’s start with my cardigan – it’s McCall’s M6844 view C. Everyone has made this and it’s been on my list for years. I love it and think it’s a great pattern. Very form fitting and versatile.

At the time my measurements were 36-31-40 which said I should go with Medium-Large-Large but, as usual, I ended up sizing down a little. I went with a straight Medium and a 5/8″ seam allowance. On my muslin I sewed with a 3/8″ with my serger and it ended up being too big.

The only alterations I made were adding 1″ to the sleeve length and adding some 1/4″ elastic to the back seam where it meets the peplum. I used 5 1/2″ of elastic. I felt like the back looked a bit baggy to me before.

I love this fabric, it’s a knit interlock that I got a JoAnns. They currently have some awesome Halloween knits – I wanted to buy them all!

For Nico’s outfit I made him the new Fold Over Pants from Brindille & Twig. These are super cute and very easy to make. He’s a tall, skinny boy so I made him a size 18-24 months with 2-3T length.

The beanie is the Slouchie Beanie, also from Brindille & Twig. I made that in a 12-18 month.

I’m so used to Brindille & Twig outfits that I don’t really follow instructions anymore, so I’m not sure how these were. I assume they were great, because all of the others are. I really like how the pants fit him and they have little pockets on the side.

Overall – all 3 patterns are a super easy sew and I’ll be making them again and again. I recommend them. But now… onto the exciting news:

We adopted this little guy!! He’s between 3-5 years old, is a miniature schnauzer and the sweetest baby ever. His name is Sir Bowser Of Woofington and he deserves all the cuddles. He’s helping to heal our broken hearts and we are hoping to save him from his past (not sure of his past, the rescue got him from the pound).

I hope you liked my stop on the Monster Mash blog tour! Don’t miss a single stop on our October Tour!

  1. Aww I love this! You make some awesome Mommy and Me projects and inspire me to do the same with my two boys. And trust me, I’ve been to JoAnn WAY too many times this last month and want to buy ALL the Halloween things. Wish it were year-long!

    1. Thank you! I love matching him – I think it’s so cute. He may not think so later in life, so I have to get all the matching in now lol!
