#2018makenine Challenge

Have you signed up for the #2018makenine Challenge? I missed out on it last year but found out this time around and wanted to join. It’s not anything crazy or hard, just post a picture on Instagram of the 9 things you plan to make in 2018. I loved this idea because it’s holding me more accountable. I also have the biggest issue with wanting to make 101 things but then forget what I really wanted to make and end up just standing there figuring out my next project. I posted my image about 2 weeks ago and have already made 1 garment (twice) from the list and ordered supplies for 2 other projects. I also tried to choose patterns that I could stash bust, because my stash is honestly getting out of control.

1. Close Case Patterns – Ginger Jeans I’m thinking maybe this is the year to make jeans. I’m super intimidated though! I’m also hoping that my machine can sew through many layers of jean material. Last time I sewed through a cosplay outfit I made for a friend, it killed my machine. I’m not planning on tackling jeans until after June.

2. Cloth Habit – Watson Bra I’ve already ordered the supplies and am pumped to make a bra! I’ve started with an easier bra because, like the jeans, I’m super intimidated! But this is the year I face my sewing fears 😉

3. Patterns For Pirates – Brunch Blouse I choose this one because I have TONS of silky wovens from JoAnns and no idea what to make with them. Also, work tops are a must. I’ve already made 2 of these and have plans for a 3rd. I’m still trying to figure out the neckline with bias binding. I’ll be posting a review of this one soon.

4. New Horizons Designs – Portlander Pants I’m all about comfy pants when I get home from work. I have to look all put together for work, so when I get home I just want comfort. These look super comfortable and flattering, win/win.

5. MW Crafts – Biker Jacket I’m in love with this pattern! It’s so different and I love hoodies/jackets. I can’t wait to make this one.

6. Christine Haynes – Emery Dress I know I just made this two months ago, but I really love the idea of a basic dress that I can showcase fun prints. I liked the one I made before but I want to tweak it a bit more for the perfect fit. I have TONS of wovens that I can stash bust with this one.

7. Ellie and Mac – Everyday Tee Everyone needs a good basic shirt and I’m hoping this is it. I love the idea that the back has a seam, that way I can fit it to my body better. It looks slouchy and comfortable, yet flattering. Once again, a great stash busting pattern.

8. Ellie and Mac – Travelers Top Another Ellie and Mac! I’ve never made anything from their women’s line before but I’m obviously assuming it will be great. I like how this is oversized and warm for winter. It looks great for putting over leggings. I have this one taped together and plan on making it next.

9. Co Emi – Jessi I have all the excites about making this one! I saw it and immediately fell in love. I’m hoping this won’t be too hard of a task. I have heard that you should use legal paper to print it out, so I have ordered some and once I get it – this will be quickly in the queue. This one will be great for my custom adult panels.

I am also planning a make 9 for my husband and son. One goal this year was to make more clothes for my husband but it has been a little difficult planning projects. He usually wears jeans, t-shirt and a hoodie jacket. The t-shirts are usually screen printed too. So I’m sort of stuck. I did make him some pajama pants a couple of weeks ago. As for Nico, I make him clothes all the time and always have big plans. The toughest issue I have with him is that he grows SO FAST! I’m hoping now that he is 3 he will slow down a bit and get more than 3 months of wear. I’ll just start sizing up, so don’t judge if his makes look a tad large 😉

Have you signed up for #2018makenine? Did you sign up last year? I’m hoping to stay on-task and accomplish a lot this year! I also hope to stash bust like a crazy person!

  1. I’m doing a Make Nine too, and I’m loving your choices! 4, 5 and 8 are amazing, and I haven’t seen these patterns before. Off to investigate right now… Good luck with your makes!
