I’m so late to the party! This book has been out for awhile but I’m just getting around to it. That pretty much describes me, late to the party and all excited about something long after the dust has settled. But you know what? This book is worth talking about, even years later, so I don’t care!
This is Love At First Stitch* and it’s Tilly’s first book. This helps you with all of the basics and assumes you are a beginner. While I’m not a beginner by any means, I still have learned some new things and it also has 7 patterns. If you want to get a new sewist a gift, this book it is. It’s super helpful and beautifully laid out. I need to order her newest book: Stretch!*
The fabric is Mario Character Stripe from JoAnn fabrics. It’s a 100% Quilting Cotton so it’s super easy to sew with and I swear quilting cotton has the BEST prints! I love quilting cotton for this skirt as it’s super easy to work with too.
This pattern has calculations, so be ready to use your brain. The hips don’t matter but the waist is key and seriously, double check your calculations! I don’t really want to give away all the calculations because that might be rude since you’re supposed to buy the book for the pattern. If you can’t afford it though, there are a lot of “how-to” guides online. Just search Google 😉
The pattern is very simple and will teach you how to attach fusible interfacing and insert a zipper. I know zippers are super scary at first, but they do get easier with practice. You will also learn how to hem.
I thought I would get some awesome pictures at the airfield and envisioned something totally different in my head. The weather was cold and it was insanely windy. I feel like this was a Pinterest project fail because in my mind these were supposed to look way more glamorous. Either way, you get the point and I love my skirt!
I foresee myself making at least 10 more of these!
super cute!
Thank you!
