True Bias – Hudson Pants

True Bias – Hudson Pants

I know Christmas was last month but yesterday was Ukrainian Christmas – so I’m not really that late 😉

These pants are the Hudson Pants from True Bias. They are a slim fit jogger and very popular. Everyone has made this pattern and there is good reason why – it’s amazing. This actually is my second time making them. The first time they turned out too big and I gave them to my mom.

The reason the other pair was too big is that I didn’t follow the suggested size chart and made 12. This pair is a size 10. True Bias has my exact measurements in waist/hip for size 10 – so yay! No grading or wondering if I should size up. I don’t know why the hell I made a 12 the first time. If the fabric didn’t have stretch I could see sizing up but who knows what I was thinking. The fit of this pair is perfect but next time I will lower the waist length by 2″ if it’s double brushed poly. The pattern suggests you use cotton lycra, french terry, ponte or a sweatshirt knit. The fabric suggested stretch is 40%. The double brushed poly is very stretchy and lightweight so it starts to “grow” and I end up having to pull the pants up to my belly button. I like low rise instead, so -2″ for double brushed poly and if it’s a suggested fabric then -1″ in the length of the waist. The waistband size is perfect.

The fabric is a double brushed poly from Purpleseamstress Fabric. I ordered it last year, so unfortunately she isn’t carrying it anymore but she has a ton of other great prints. The only alteration I made was adding 2″ to the length. I’m 5’10” and this is a normal alteration for me. Next time I think I’ll add another 1″ for a total of 3″. Oh and did I mention the pockets? I love pockets!

These are super comfortable and I highly recommend the pattern. I want to make another pair in a sweatshirt material.
